Big Park’s cross-valley rival, the Camp Verde Middle School Cowboys, maintained the best record in the league after beating the Coyotes for the second time this season.
The boys basketball players of Big Park Community School lost their Thursday, Jan. 10, game at Camp Verde, 36-31, in a nail-biter. The Coyotes are now 5-3 while the Cowboys improved their record 10-1.
“I feel so lucky to be able to coach such a great group of boys who give me a 150 percent all game long. As a coach, I can ask for no more,” Big Park Head Coach Amy Parrella said. “These boys worked their tails off from start to finish and did the job that was asked of them to the best of their ability.
“We are getting better and better each and every game. Camp Verde is always great competition, and it was really neat to see us come within a few points of beating them. I don’t think that has happened in a really long time, so we are definitely seeing a lot of progress with this team.”
