The Scorpions tried to take revenge on their most-heated rival on Thursday, Jan. 17, but ended up marking down another loss.

Junior Rachel Preschler, left, takes the ball down field during a Sedona Red Rock High School varsity girls soccer game earlier this season. The girls lost 1-0 to Mingus Union High School on Thursday, Jan. 17, dropping their season record to 8-6. The Scorpions’ final home game of the regular season will be against Bradshaw Mountain High school on Thursday, Jan. 24.The Sedona Red Rock girls soccer team [8-6] played a sturdy defense to keep their enemies at bay, but the Mingus Union Marauders [10-3] beat the Scorpions for the second time this season, 1-0, on Thursday, at the high school’s soccer field.

The girls played their hearts out, and with better organization than the earlier game. Each team wanted the win badly, because in a Scorpions-Marauders game it’s more than just one win, it’s for year-long bragging rights in the Verde Valley.
