It was a hearty Thanksgiving for more than 140 families in the Sedona area, thanks to the Sedona Community Food Bank.
The organization distributed turkeys beginning Nov. 14 and ending Wednesday, Nov. 21.
In all, 148 full Thanksgiving dinners were handed out. The dinners contained fruit cocktail, pineapple chunks, stuffing, mashed potatoes, carrots, gravy, mixed vegetables, cranberry sauce, evaporated milk, sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie filling. The food bank also added yams to the dinners.
The food bank continued to collect Thanksgiving turkeys through Tuesday, Nov. 20, to ensure those in need would be covered.
Sedona Community Food Bank Executive Director Vince Monaci said news coverage helped bring in last-minute donations and offered his thanks to the community for its support.
“It brought a lot of donations to us,” he said. “Last week we gave out 55 turkeys with bags of condiments.”
