The restrooms at the McGuireville rest area along Interstate 17 south of Flagstaff at milepost 297 are closed due to emergency repairs to the water system, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The restrooms at the north and southbound facilities will be closed until repairs are complete on the main water line. There is no timetable for when the rest area will reopen.
Water is a key component to the operation of a rest area. Water is needed to operate the restroom facilities, the septic system and the drinking fountains as well as provide for the needs of the caretakers who live on site.
Travelers can stop in Camp Verde or use the Sunset Point rest area along I-17 at milepost 252 while the McGuireville rest area is closed.
