Eric Holowacz is leaving to live Down Under, and slightly to the right.

Holowacz, the executive director of the Sedona Arts Center in Uptown, will be leaving in October for a new job in Aotearoa, the Land of the Long White Cloud. Or New Zealand for us Yankees.

Holowacz will be the museum director and cultural affairs coordinator in Whakatane, which is in the Bay of Plenty. The museum is operated through the area’s equivalent to a city council.

Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition is cruising to stardom with a recent national recognition and award. The nonprofit won the National Volunteer Transportation Center’s 2016 Grand Star Award, and along with it, a brand-new Toyota Sienna mobility vehicle.

Verde Valley Caregivers provides free rides to qualifying older adults who don’t have any independent method of transportation. From hospital visits to grocery shopping, from down the street to downtown Phoenix, VVCC volunteers help get these otherwise stationary people where they need to go.

Two Camp Verde men are getting the professional chance of a lifetime, joining an elite crew of detailers responsible for giving Air Force One a presidential shine.

This week, July 24 through 30, Rob Fafrowicz and Rob Zubek of All in the Polish Detailing are taking part in a detailing event at Seattle’s Museum of Flight.

When Inge Jones walked into Sedona Fire District’s Station 1 on Wednesday, July 19, it was like visiting old friends.

Friends who saved her life.

On May 25 Jones was enjoying an afternoon at her Uptown home with her daughter, Suzi Heath, who stopped by to check in on her.

When asked if he was a proud grandfather, Phil Wadsack paused, smiled and said, “You bet I am. Very proud.”

That pride came following an event that had a happy ending but one that could have ended in tragedy. Wadsack’s grandchildren — 11-yearold Dakota and 8-year-old Jordan — were visiting Wadsack and his wife in Sedona from Colorado.

Timing, as they say, is everything, and all it takes is one pair of thrift-store roller skates to prove that point.

Back in March, Twice Nice thrift store assistant manager Marge Riley accepted a vintage pair of girl’s roller skates, still in their original box, as a donation for the store.

In partnership with the Rotary Club of Sedona, Accord Hospice of Sedona will present a screening of the film “Being Mortal” and a discussion afterward Friday, June 30, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Sedona Public Library, 3250 White Bear Road.

With July 4 less than a week afterward, timing for the city of Sedona’s next concert performance is fitting.

The Posse Grounds Pavilion at Barbara Antonsen Memorial Park will be the site of a free concert featuring music of the Air National Guard Band of the Southwest. The event is set for Wednesday, June 28, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
