Two members of the Verde Valley High Performance Swim Team competed at the IM Xtreme Games swim meet at Kino Aquatics Center in Mesa from Friday, Nov. 17 to Sunday, Nov. 19.

12-year-olds Renae Porteous and Carlos Lattanzi went up against swimmers from 10 states around the western United States.
At the meet, Lattanzi added a sixth No. 1 ranking in Arizona for his age group with a win in the 500-yard freestyle. He was the top-ranked Arizona swimmer and third-highest scorer overall at the competition in his age group.
His other No. 1 rankings include the 50-, 100- and 200-yard breaststroke as well as the 200- and 400-yard
Porteous finished in the top 16 overall for her age group, her top swim a seventh place finish in the 100-yard butterfly.The team is preparing for the Holiday Swim Festival at ASU’s Mona Plummer Aquatic Center, to be held from
