A gas line broke Tuesday morning, Oct. 31, on Apple Avenue where Uptown Enhancement construction continues.
Tiffany Construction called UniSource Energy on Tuesday, Oct. 31, when a two-inch plastic gas line was ruptured during construction.
A UniSource employee, already on the scene, was able to clamp off the leak before Sedona Fire District crews arrived, UniSource Verde Valley Area Manager Jim Duncan said.
The line, Duncan said, is a two-way feed so they simply clamped it on either side of the leak while repairs were made.
They did not have to actually shut the gas off, so there weren’t any UniSource customers who were affected.
The line was fixed in approximately an hour, Duncan said.
According to Duncan, when a gas line is broken, UniSource sends a construction crew to the site to assess the situation and shut the gas off, if need be.
The fire district is used, Duncan said, depending on the magnitude of the situation.
