The West Sedona School has softball again after three years without. The team lost its first two games this season, according to Head Coach Mike Fabbri.
As a result of the discontinuity, WSS has only three out of 14 players with softball-playing experience.
The program has good numbers for its first year back.
Expectations are realistic.
?Our main thing is going to be building self-esteem,? Fabbri said.
Fabbri, along with assistants Randy Klien and Mark Keckeis, assumes the duties of teaching the squad the basics of the game.
The staff will make sure that daily improvement will not get confused with the win-and-loss column.
Players with previous experience are catcher, lead-off hitter and Sedona newbie Kaylor Tiffany, Shelby Brandt and outfielder Brigette Fabbri.
Tiffany appears to be a standout backstop, stuffing numerous errant pitches against Big Park Community School.
?She is a good contact hitter and great base-runner as well,? Fabbri said.
Tiffany had a lead-off home run in the team?s first game of the year.
Other accomplishments include Brigette Fabbri stealing two bases, Chloe Marcus pitching a gem in the first contest and Maryland Cruz making a series of glove plays at first base.
The girls hope to get similar highlights from Allyssa Millar, Angelica Mlynarczk, Nikkie Johnson, Leanna Flores, Jessica Ohman, Mckenzie Moore, Sarah Klien, Lila Rodriguez and Alex Keckeis.
