Sedona residents better watch out because the big man in red is coming to town Friday, Nov. 30.

Santa will be escorted into town by Sedona Mayor Pud Colquitt to help light the Christmas tree at Sedona’s annual Holiday Tree Lighting & Santa Visit.

The Sedona Chamber of Commerce, the city of Sedona and the Sedona Main Street Program invites residents and visitors alike to celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season.

The event kicks off at 5 p.m. at the Orchards Plaza, along Hwy. 89A, in Uptown.

Last year the event moved to the plaza from the front of the chamber’s Visitor Center on Forest Road. This year, the new addition is a tree sponsored by various Sedona businesses.

Shortly after festivities begin, Santa and Colquitt will arrive on the historic Sedona Fire Engine No. 1, courtesy of the Sedona Historical Society and Sedona Heritage Museum, to plug in the lights.

Following the tree lighting, Santa will be making his list for the Sedona children.

Free photos will be taken and parents are welcome to bring their own cameras to snap a shot of their children hanging out with Santa.

Big Park Community School’s Garbage Can Band plans to perform as well. Elementary students will pound on trash cans to create holiday music for all to enjoy.
