Candidates for mayor include incumbent Mayor Pud Colquitt, City Councilman Rob Adams and newcomer Mathew Turner, founder of Green Sedona.
Councilman John Bradshaw; Suzanne Chaffee, of Green Sedona; Clifford Hamilton, owner of Earth Sky Tours and member of the SR 89A Pedestrian Safety Advisory Commission; and Marc Sterling, a Sedona Red Rock High School business teacher, will fight for two, four-year spots on council.
Dan Surber, a local
architect and member of the city’s housing commission, will run unchallenged for the only two-year council seat available.
On Thursday, Dec. 13, at 8 a.m. City Clerk Cherry Lawson confirmed signature counts for five of the eight candidates in the races.
Candidates had to submit nomination forms and petitions with at least 158 signatures from Sedona residents by the file date to be eligible to run.
In the mayoral race, Adams submitted 357 signatures of support, followed by Colquitt with 258 and Turner with 220.
Bradshaw submitted a petition boasting 292 signatures, Sterling filed 291, Hamilton recorded 239, Chaffee submitted 192 and Surber entered 182.
The primary election is set for Tuesday, March 11.
