The Arizona Department of Transportation has closed Hwy. 89A between Flagstaff and Sedona, according to Rod Wigman, public information officer for ADOT.
Oak Creek Canyon has received heavy amounts of snow, making it difficult to keep the road open and passable. Roadblocks have been set up just outside of Sedona on the southern end and just outside of Flagstaff on the northern end.
The road is anticipated to be closed into midday Monday, Feb. 4.
Motorists traveling into Sedona can use Hwy. 89A out of Cottonwood or Hwy. 179 off of I-17.
ADOT will issue a news brief when conditions change.
I-17 is closed northbound at milepost 307, nine miles north of the Hwy. 179 exist, due to weather. There is no estimate as to when the road will reopen.
