Sedona police officers shot and killed an aggressive dog on Thursday, April 17, at approximately 9:20 a.m.
According to Cmdr. Marlayne Hatler, SPD received a 9-1-1 call of an aggressive dog running loose in the 100 block of Andante Drive.
The dog was barking and threatening people walking on the street.

Additional reports indicated to the dispatcher that the owner was not able to get the dog to return to its yard.
Officers responded, finding a large mixed-breed dog in the middle of the roadway.
One officer on scene was forced back into his patrol car for protection when the dog charged at him.
The owner was unsuccessful in trying to get the dog back to its yard.
The dog aggressively advanced toward the other officer on scene.
When the dog charged again, the officer shot the dog and it died at the scene. Andante Drive was closed for a short time for the investigation of the scene.
No residents or officers were bitten or injured in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
