Entering only their third season in existence the Scorpions [Majors] are expecting big things this year and hope to do well enough on the field to make the playoffs come November.
First year Head Coach Kent Adams has a positive outlook from his team this season, and judging by watching the boys beat up on each other in practice the past three weeks or so, he believes they will be readyto go.
“We have been at it for a while now with the pads on, and everything is going well so far,” Adams said.

As a part of the Red Rock Youth Football program, which is also in its third year of existence, the Scorpions hope to claim quite a fewvictories on the gridiron
this season, and with a strong group of players they just might.
Quarterback Rawlin Carpenter leads a group of strong players looking to apply their skills on the field while showing their coaches how smart theycan play.
Center Luis Robles and wide-out Josh Serin also look to have a stellar 2008 season, doing their thing on offense and on defense as Robles will play linebacker and Serin a cornerback for the Scorpions.
“We’ve got quite a few kids this season and should be right in the thick of things come playoff time,” Adams said.
Other top standouts include wide-out Wade Adams, linebacker Reese Adcock, cornerback Josh Elfman, defensive lineman Seth Lewis and offensive lineman Victor Porcayo.
With the Majors being the last stop in RRYF before heading up to the Sedona Jr. High team, this team seems determined to finish with a bang.
The schedule could play
out in the Scorpions’ favor this year because they will have
one more week of practice than most teams in the league, since they were awarded a bye week during the first weekend of the season.
The Scorpions will play their home opener against the Wickenburg Wranglers on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m. at Sedona Red Rock High.
The boys will have another home game on Saturday, Sept. 20, against the Prescott Badgers before traveling to Flagstaff and playing on the campus Northern Arizona University on Saturday, Sept. 27.
The NAU Walkup Skydome will host the Scorpions and their opponent, Chino Valley. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Other important games on the schedule include the Payson Raiders on Saturday, Oct. 11, the Camp Verde Bulldogs on Saturday, Oct. 18, and the Cottonwood Chargers on Saturday, Nov. 1.
“I think we are all excited to see what these kids can do on the field this season,” Adams said.
