Construction Update: Traffic shifted on SR 1791 min read

Traffic has been shifted to the east side of State Route 179 so that crews can move utilities and complete the wall on the west side of the road. Business access will not be affected.

Night Lane Restrictions between Canyon Drive and Morgan Wash

Lane restrictions will be in place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Friday morning between Canyon Drive and Morgan Wash. These restrictions will last until the work on the walls is complete.

Work on Oak Creek Bridge Resumed

Arizona Department of Transportation and the construction team resumed drilling the shafts for the new bridge. The new shaft locations will not alter the design or location of any of the new bridge’s aboveground features. The new shaft locations only allow for a portion of the old bridge’s underground foundation to remain in place. The bridge is on schedule to be completed by early 2010.

Construction crews started excavation on the wall on the east side of State Route 179 between Canyon Drive and Morgan Wash. This retaining wall will protect the roadway and adjacent properties as well as widen the road to include a multiuse path with sidewalk and bike paths.

ADOT and Southwest Asphalt Paving appreciate your continued cooperation as these improvements are made to State Route 179.

Changes to construction plans can happen frequently due to weather, equipment and personnel availability. ADOT tries to anticipate construction activities a week in advance but changes may occur. Intermittent lane closures, with short delays, may not always be known in advance.

For a complete listing of freeway and highway restrictions across Arizona visit ADOT’s Travel Information Site at www.az511.com or call 5-1-1.
