A Good Samaratan prevented a woman from jumping off Midgley Bridge a little after noon on Friday, May 20.

At about 12:15 p.m. the Sedona Regional Communications Center received a report of a woman attempting to commit suicide by jumping off of Midgley Bridge, located on State Route 89A, just north of Sedona city limits, according to the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office.

Sedona Fire District staff, Sedona Police Department officers and a CCSO deputy responded to the bridge.

The deputy learned that before his arrival, the 30-year-old Sedona woman was standing on the outside of the south guardrail of Midgley Bridge, threatening to commit suicide. She reportedly said “I don’t want to be in this world,” according to CCSO

A Good Samaritan approached the woman and convinced her not to kill or injure herself.

The woman was transported to a medical center by Sedona Fire District staff.
