Script writers usually change the names of their characters they base on real people, but for “Sedona: The Movie,” writer Tommy Stovall just had to use Deb Lovejoy’s real name.
The movie opens in Harkins Sedona Six Theatres on Friday, March 16. The film debuted in 2011 to sold-out crowds at the Sedona International Film Festival. It will be featured in a special screening Wednesday, Dec. 19, in Cambridge, Mass. as part of a tribute to Beth Grant, who portrays Lovejoy in “Sedona: The Movie.”
“When we moved to Sedona, Deb was one of the first people we met. We became friends and watched movies together. I told her she’d make a good character for a movie,” Stovall said. “When I wrote the script for ‘Sedona,’ I asked Deb if I could use her as a character.”
