For anyone who is different in any way from what is considered the norm, there is always someone, or several people, who may bully them.

Most often the bullying behavior is only verbal, and in this era of technology, bullying also comes in the form of text messages, emails and through social media. The behavior ranges from teasing to blatant threats. Sometimes the bully actually tells the bullied they should kill themselves — and some do, according to local filmmaker Susan Broude.

“Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words do hurt — words can kill,” Broude said. “We have several examples in the news that prove it, like 16-year-old Ted Molina in Corpus Christi, Texas, in April.”
