The junior high class at Big Park Community School is having fun rehearsing for its spring musical performance.

In fact, drama teacher Sonia Feldtkeller said everyone in the whole school is singing the songs.

“Drama has become very popular in the last couple years here, and I discovered I had some junior high boys who could sing well so we’re doing ‘Grease,’” Feldtkeller said. “One-fourth of the junior high class is in the production — 27 kids.”

The free performance will be Wednesday and Thursday, May 16 and 17, in the school’s multi-purpose room at 6 p.m.

Feldtkeller said the cast’s parents are helping with the songs. The movie version of “Grease,” which starred John Travolta as Danny Zuko and Olivia Newton-John as Sandy Olsen, came out in 1978 — about the time the students’ parents were in junior high.
