Sometimes it’s fun to be a little wacky, and third-graders at West Sedona School will have their chance when they present the play, “Wackadoo Zoo.”

The play is a musical about a strange zoo in the town of Wackadoo with songs and story-telling. It has become a classic for the early grades and features mixed-up, happy animals living in the zoo who make sounds other than what they usually make, said third-grade teacher Linda Spokes.

“The kids have to learn lines and songs. Some portray animals, others are professors, and a few are narrators,” she said. “The whole premise is to show that being different means we’re all special in our own way — not wrong or right, just different. It’s also about acceptance, and that it’s OK to be different.”

According to the Urban Dictionary, wackadoo means a person who loves to have fun all the time and tends to be a little goofy, or a person who is crazy beyond belief.
