The cause of a Friday, May 25, house fire that destroyed two homes in the Village of Oak Creek’s Big Park neighborhood remains under investigation.

A home at 105 Beaver St., where the fire is believed to have originated, and a home on Ocotillo Street were both destroyed as a result of the blaze. Two additional homes also suffered minor damage, according to the Sedona Fire District. One motor home and three vehicles were also damaged. Two dogs reportedly died in the fire.

Homes belonging to local musician Sammy Davis and neighbor Adam Grebenstein were destroyed in the blaze. Grebenstein said he saw a smoke plume from Sedona Red Rock High School, where he was at the time of the incident, and thought it appeared to be in his neighborhood.

“I said to a friend, ‘God, I hope my house isn’t burning down,’” Grebenstein said Friday at the scene. “Ten minutes later I got a call from a neighbor telling me the bad news. I’m in a state of shock. I’m thankful for what I still have left, my family.”
