The Sedona Public Library wants to keep kids excited about reading while they are out of school for the summer with its Summer Reading Program.

The program kicks off with a party Friday, June 1, complete with games, stories and a puppet show. There will be lemonade and Arizona-style snacks, too.

“Since its our centennial year here in Arizona we’re pulling in aspects related to statehood. Our theme is ‘Our State, Our Story: Celebrating 100 Years of Arizona.’ We’re encouraging the kids to read books about Arizona or set in Arizona,” said Karen Mack, children’s librarian. “We want to help them keep up their skills and have fun while doing it.”
