Burgers, DJ Nate Metro, awards and applause made up the 12th annual Zaki Gordon Institute for Independent Filmmaking Short Film Festival Awards on Sunday, May 27. The annual awards serve as the end-of-term highlight for students at the film school. A full house packed into the West Sedona Yavapai College campus to attend the awards ceremony and outdoor barbecue. The awards are given at the tail end of the three-day ZGI film festival.
Young filmmakers were given awards in a number of categories, including awards for the national high school short film competition and the ZGI Pinnacle Awards. Rue, ZGI director, said over 40 submissions were received for the 2012 high school competition.
