A second man was sentenced for illegal trail construction in the Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest.
John Finch, 62, of Sedona, was convicted in federal court June 4 for construction work on Teacup Trail. As part of his sentence, he will not be allowed to enter any national forest in Arizona for a six-month period. He was also sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution.
Finch admitted to trail construction and maintenance near the area of Scheurman Mountain, according to a press release from the U.S. Forest Service.
In April, 74-year-old Gerald Griffin was also charged with unauthorized trail construction near the Village of Oak Creek. Griffin was fined $1,000 and banned from entering any national forest in the state for a two-year period.
