A recent Sedona graduate is taking her athletic talent all the way to the East Coast.
Katie Furlong, 18, graduated from Sedona Red Rock High School in May and accepted a scholarship to play volleyball at the University of Charleston, a top-ranked private college in the heart of Charleston, W.Va.
“I’m really nervous but definitely excited to go,” Furlong said.
Furlong, who was a four-year varsity letterman, Section Player of the Year, 1st Team All-State and 1st Team All-Conference this year, had other colleges vying for her talent, including Francis Marion University in South Carolina and Elmhurst College in Illinois.
