It is that time again to get down and dirty.

The second annual Red Mud Run is Sunday, Oct. 14, and registration is now open.

The Red Mud Run is a 5K race where adult teams race around Posse Grounds Park on the dirt trails, over, under and through obstacles. The last obstacle is a mud pit. The timed event is 2.7 miles and teams of one, two or five can participate.

“Last year was our inaugural race, and we had 250 participants,” said Rachel Murdoch, recreation and aquatic supervisor of the city of Sedona. “Twenty-five of those were kids. We were happy with our first turnout.”

The Red Mud Run is designed to be a fun and challenging event for people of all levels of fitness, and costumes are highly encouraged.
