A Sedona golf professional will be sharing the golf course with Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson and the rest of the best-of-the-best at the Professional Golfers’ Association Championship.
Michael Frye, 26, qualified to play in the 94th PGA Championship, one of the PGA’s four major championships. The tournament will be played Thursday through Monday, Aug. 9 through 13, on the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, S.C.
Frye, a PGA Class A professional at a Village of Oak Creek country club, finished 20th in the 2012 PGA Professional National Championship in Monterey, Calif., on June 27. The top 20 finishers received an automatic berth into the 2012 PGA Championship.
“The competition was very strong,” Frye said. “It was definitely the strongest competition I have ever been in.”
