LA LA Land4 min read

Do you know someone whom you would declare lives in la la land? Does that mean they’re dreamers? Do Los Angeles or Hollywood come to mind when I say LA LA land? Certainly one must be a dreamer to move there. That’s the land of TV and movie film, music and fashion. Fantasy come alive. Red carpet celebrity.

It takes a dreamer to be creative, and a dreamer to follow their dreams. Visionary artists, writers, musicians and actors are drawn there. La la support people such as the agents; hair, makeup and costuming icons; scenery, camera, lighting experts and more, want to live the la la fantasy, and are drawn to the la la land. Even the ones who are the backbone of reality as in studio heads, financial backers, executive producers, etc. want to be part of la la.

When I watch film or hear music I fantasize, so I’m in la la land. I like TV’s real estate shows, especially about the million dollar homes, and dream of having an indoor Jacuzzi bathtub again, and a big celebrity-type wardrobe closet. Sedona is a la la land and I love it here. My dream views are its plentitude of breathtaking and inspiring red rock formations, and the magnificence of water.

I have always liked fashion, beauty, glamour and entertainment. I became an entertainer, and loved the glitz and excitement that went with it. I haven’t sung on stage in a while but appreciate and savor more the spotlight on my positive and empowering spirituality on TV, radio, magazines, and here in Sedona’s newspaper.

When I sit down to write each week’s column, I have to go into la la land to hopefully hear a creative idea to write about. Generally I start with absolutely nothing and look outwardly for inspiration, but nothing comes. I sit quietly without mind clutter then, and it’s always a random thought that catches on fire and whala, I keep listening and often just type away, as if I’m being told what to write, word after word. That’s la la for sure. I am also in that quiet open space receiving, when I give a Reading for someone, or hearing discernment for myself.

For those who say, get a grip on reality, I say, admit it, you love to take trips to la la land. In fact, dreaming of being a Fortune 500 business person, in real estate or a retail store owner, utilized your inner la la. You dreamt of being accepted to the best school or getting that loan, and have your business just the way you imagined, and la la’d that you’d have a thriving career so you could buy what you always la la’d for…perhaps a home with a view and the best toys. So when you feel you’re working too hard, remember to have some la la. In fact your inner la la is where peace, bliss and fulfillment reside waiting for you to take residence and be at home.

We do require a nice balance of physical reality and la la. After all, you want to ground your dreams. Use common sense to realize if you’re too close to the edge of the sky, far far away; and if you’re using drugs or alcohol, come back to earth. You’ve got all that it takes within yourself, having been created by the ultimate creative Creator, without having to give up yourself. So fantasize away, be the star of your show and work it, work it, work it.

Here’s your key. Here’s your director. Meet you in la la land.
