A home-schooled track star takes her love of the sport to the college level on a scholarship.

Nyomi Mosley, 18, accepted an academic as well as a track and field scholarship last week at Grand Canyon University.

Mosley received a $10,000 academic scholarship along with a $6,500 track and field scholarship, essentially making it a full-ride scholarship when put together. Mosley said she will have to pay only between $500 and $1,000 a year.

Other schools offered her scholarships, including Arizona Christian University in Phoenix and Central Arizona College in Coolidge, but she chose Grand Canyon University because she felt comfortable there.

“I went to the school to see it, and I felt it was the best place for me to go,” Mosley said. “I felt like it was where God wanted me to go, and everything started to fit into place.”
