Youth Football program reborn for new season1 min read

Head coach Ken Selle talks Wednesday, Aug. 15, with players with the Red Rock Youth Football program during practice at Sedona Red Rock High School. The Red Rock Youth Football program has undergone a makeover this season to energize the players to be better prepared and more excited for the high school level.

The Red Rock Youth Football program transitioned from the Northern Arizona Youth Football League to the Alliance Sports Youth Association, a football program that is based solely on grade and age, not weight.

New Head Coach Ken Selle made the shift because he wanted a change in philosophy.

“We want to re-energize the program,” Selle said. “We have aligned ourselves with the high school so that the kids will be ready to play by the time they get there.”

The kids practice in a high school team fashion, running the same type of fundamental and agility drills. Their uniforms will be identical to the Sedona Red Rock High School football team’s uniforms and will have the players’ names on the back — something they will be able to keep at the end of the year.
