The Sedona Red Rock High School football had a rough start to the 2012 season.

The Scorpions held together as a team, but some key weaknesses allowed the Winslow High School Bulldogs to dominate the field. The Bulldogs beat the Scorpions 52-7 on Friday, Aug. 24 at SRRHS.

“The kids played hard, and they never quit,” Scorpion Head Coach Rick Walsworth said. “We knew going into the season that Winslow would be one of the best teams that we would face, and they proved it.”

Scorpion punter Ryan Ramirez started the game with a great kickoff into the end zone. The Bulldogs started at their 20-yard line, but Winslow wide receiver Kelly Wood took off with the ball for an 80-yard run touchdown. The extra point was good, making the score 7-0 Winslow right off the bat.

The Scorpions struggled with their first possession with bobbles and no gained yardage.
