The Scorpions swim team’s season-opening win put the team on the right track for Head Coach A. Jay Bronson’s state goals for the 2012 season.

The Scorpions had a dominating victory on Thursday, Aug. 30, at the Sedona Community Pool over the Wickenburg Wranglers, the Arizona College Preparatory Knights and the Phoenix Christian High School Cougars.

Almost 75 percent of the Sedona Red Rock High School swimmers were sick at this meet. Yet, the boys had a demanding lead, earning a total of 316 points. The Wickenburg Wranglers took second with 142 points, the Arizona College Prep Knights placed third with 102 points, and the Phoenix Christian Cougars placed fourth with 5 total points.

The girls were equally impressive, winning the meet with a score of 274 points. Arizona College Prep Knights placed second with 129 points, the Wickenburg Wranglers earned 119 points for third place, and the Phoenix Christian Cougars took fourth place with 45 points.

“My swimmers worked through their sickness,” Bronson said.  “It was very impressive.”
