The Sedona Red Rock High School cross-country team has three new captains this season preparing to lead the team.

On Tuesday, Sept. 4, Head Coach Harry Schneider announced that junior Travis Okie will be the 2012 boys team captain while seniors Mykala Seresun and Eva Wilson will be sharing the responsibilities as co-captains for the girls team.

“I remember my freshman year that the captains of the cross-country team were a huge part incorporated with the team,” Wilson said. “They were the ones who made me love the sport.”

“I am honored and proud to be a captain of the team,” Okie said. “It’s something I aspired to be since I started running cross-country.”

While Seresun started running competitively when she was in fifth grade, Wilson and Okie started their freshman years of high school. However, each were motivated to start running competitively in cross-county by different reasons.
