Sedona, the Verde Valley, Prescott and Flagstaff tennis players and enthusiasts were recognized for accomplishments on and off the courts.
The Northern Arizona Tennis Association hosted its eighth annual awards banquet Nov. 2 in Rimrock. Awards were presented to individuals for various achievements in the tennis world throughout the year.
The star of the evening was Jana Perpich, of Flagstaff, who was chosen as the U.S. Tennis Association’s Southwest Section Volunteer of the Year and was recognized in El Paso, Texas, on Oct. 27. Perpich has served on more than 10 USTA tennis committees within the past decade and was the president of the Northern Arizona Tennis Association. She now directs a program that provides tennis instruction to over 900 Flagstaff school children year-round.
Chris Finefrock, of Sedona, won the Female Adult Competitive Player of the Year award. Finefrock competed in four different USTA league programs this season, assisted in organizing several of those teams and is a new member on the Northern Arizona Tennis Association Board of Directors.
Packy Baker, of Sedona, was honored with the Male Adult League Player of the Year award. Baker is the director of tennis at a Sedona resort and posted the best player record
