The Coyotes’ defense and camaraderie are keeping them strong as they reach the midseason.

The Big Park Community School boys basketball team is now 3-2 at the halfway point of the 2012-2013 basketball season. The boys had a big win in their first away game on Tuesday, Dec. 11, beating Beaver Creek 49-29.

Randy Rodriguez has consistently been the leading scorer for the Coyotes, and had 14 points in the Beaver Creek game. He also had seven steals and five assists. Keegan Cordova had 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Chas Rescigno had seven points, 11 rebounds and four steals while Britton Woodford scored seven points. The team’s point guard, Neil Smith, also had a good game with seven steals, four assists and only two turnovers. As a team, the Coyotes shot 50 percent.

“Defense won us the game. All five players did their jobs,” said Amy Parrella, Big Park’s head coach. “Chas and Keegan were animals on the board.”

Parrella said that she watched Beaver Creek play West Sedona, and Beaver Creek came out a like a whole different team against Big Park.
