Marcus McCutchan, 82, a longtime former Sedona resident who was instrumental in the growth of the city, died Jan. 5 at the Phoenix Mayo Clinic.

“He was very active in all the community clubs,” said his wife of 63 years, Aleene McCutchan.

Marcus McCutchan was a member of Sedona’s Rotary clubs and had 43 years of perfect attendance, even attending other club meetings when out of town to make up the local meetings he missed. He was active in the Rotary’s mission to eradicate polio worldwide. He was also a charter member of the Sedona Elks Lodge, served as secretary and president of the Sedona Chamber of Commerce and was a member of Keep Sedona Beautiful just as the Litter Lifters began in the 1960s.
