The girls of Big Park basketball expected to do well this season, but not quite like this.
The Coyotes A-team ended the 2012-2013 regular season with a perfect 13-0 record.
“We always expect to win, but I didn’t expect this,” Big Park Head Coach Kirk Westervelt said. “I am very proud of them. All 10 kids have worked hard for it and have great attitudes all season.”
The girls’ 13th win was on Tuesday, Jan. 22, over a cross-town rival, the West Sedona School Wildcats. With a running clock the entire game, the Coyotes beat the Wildcats 56-0. Hannah Ringel and Sophia Perry were the high scorers for Big Park with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Perry also had 11 rebounds. Liza Westervelt had five steals and six assists, and Taylor Ryan had two blocks.
