Scorpions girls, boys beat Cougars1 min read

The Scorpions face a series of rivalry games to round out the regular season. The teams played at Camp Verde on Thursday, Jan. 24, and at Flagstaff on Friday, Jan. 25. The last two games of the season will be played at home against Mingus Union on Thursday, Jan. 31, and against Camp Verde again on Friday, Feb. 1.

The Scorpions boys and girls basketball teams both came up with big wins Tuesday night, Jan. 22, as they get closer to the end of the regular season.

The Sedona Red Rock High School girls basketball team [11-8] eclipsed the Chino Valley Cougars [7-10] in a dominating 61-23 win on Tuesday, at home. The boys team [5-15] also took command of the court with a 52-49 victory over the Cougars boys [2-14]. Both games were conference match-ups.

The girls took control of the game from the start, and senior Tiana Hatler shined. Hatler went on a 14-point scoring run in the first quarter assisted by seniors Sierra Hatler and Mary Kate Hafner and junior Amber Rippy. Sierra Hatler also scored seven points in the first quarter and added three steals.
