Camp Verde High School cowboyed up in the fourth quarter in one of Sedona’s biggest games of the season and almost had an amazing come-from-behind win in the books, but the Scorpions went home with the victory on the Cowboys’ Senior Night.

The Sedona Red Rock High School boys basketball team had a big lead the entire game over its Division III conference rival on Thursday, Jan. 24, at Camp Verde, until the Cowboys [7-18] rallied back from a 19-point deficit to within just two points in the fourth quarter. The Scorpions, however, held on to their lead and won the game, 56-52.

“As ugly as it got, we still pulled it out. We made free throws down the stretch to pull away,” Scorpions Head Coach Greg Strickling said. “Hats off to Camp Verde, though. They didn’t stop.”
