The middle school basketball regular season officially came to an end with the Verde Valley League Championship tournament, but only one of the four teams that participated will extend its season to the state tournament.

The undefeated Big Park Community School girls basketball team won its second consecutive league championship tournament, extending its perfect season record to 15-0, after defeating the Camp Verde Middle School Cowboys 44-18 in the Verde Valley League Tournament finals on Saturday, Jan. 26, at Oak Creek School.

“We always expect to win, but I didn’t expect this,” Big Park Head Coach Kirk Westervelt said. “I am very proud of them. All 10 kids have worked hard for it and have great attitudes all season.”
