A drive that Sedona residents and visitors take every day is getting world recognition, thanks to the Weather Channel.

The Red Rock Scenic Byway, officially known as State Route 179, was recently named one of the World’s 15 Most Amazing Roads on Weather.com.

The 7½-mile stretch between the ‘Y’ intersection, the Village of Oak Creek and I-17 was one of three roads in the United States to make the list among other “Amazing” roads around the globe, such as the historic San Bernardino Pass in Switzerland; the “World’s Most Dangerous Road” — the North Yungas Road in Bolivia; the Overseas Highway, which has the Seven Mile Bridge to Key Largo and Key West in Florida; and the iconic Pacific Coast Highway of California, the 120-mile two-lane stretch between Monterey and Morro Bay, that hugs the cliffs of California’s Central Coast.
