The Sedona Red Rock High School golf team is extremely young, but has the potential to improve its 16-9 dual meet record from last season. Despite having only one senior and no juniors among its eight golfers, the team has experience and talent, and lots of enthusiasm. “This year is a season of serious rebuilding on two counts,” said Head Coach Dennis Mobley, who has been coaching the team since the school opened in 1994. “Four of the top five golfers from last year graduated, and we only have one returning senior — Brian Swartwout, and no returning juniors. [But] what we do have are six very enthusiastic sophomores and one freshman who all have golfing experience. “The upside is these youngsters will be thrown into the varsity lineup immediately, so our results this year will be a forewarning of two great seasons to come. We are all excited at the potential of this group.” And there is a fight for the top spot brewing. For the full story, please see the Wednesday, Feb. 27, issue of the Sedona Red Rock News.
