Scorpions dominate Spartans with hitting1 min read

The Scorpions softball team started its season off with a dominating win over Northland Preparatory Academy on Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Sedona Red Rock High School softball field.

Sedona [1-0] took control of the game in the first inning and never let up, beating the Spartans 13-3 in six innings due to the 10-run rule.

“We hit better than I thought we were going to, so I’m happy with that,” Parks said. “We also had good base running going on.”

Scorpions sophomore pitcher Emily Aitken took the mound in the first inning, and within minutes the Scorpions handed the Spartans three outs. Aitken tagged a batter out after a bunt, and shortstop Haley Davis fielded a pair of ground balls, throwing to first baseman Kristina Schindele for the outs.
