The Sedona Red Rock baseball team suffered its third loss in the young season, losing to the undefeated Williams Vikings [7-0], 6-3 on Tuesday, March 5, at home. The Vikings took the lead very early in the game, but the Scorpions [0-3], did have spurts of good play that revealed the potential of the team.

With sophomore Scott Moker pitching, the Vikings’ leadoff hitter smacked a home run over the center field fence for the team’s first run, and the next batter up also hit a home run to make the score 2-0. But Moker, with help from teammates Zeke Saxman and Joshua Hafner, got the next three batters out.

The Vikings started a left-handed pitcher, which can be difficult for hitters because left-handed pitchers are so uncommon at the high school level. But Scorpions leadoff hitter Wesley Mikulewicz hit a single off the first pitch he saw. But the Williams pitcher struck out Carlos Rodriguez and Moker and Mauro Trahin flied out.
