Life Transitions of Hopi Youth, a visual program by Ramson Lomatewama of the Hopi Tribe, takes place Saturday, March 30, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Sedona Public Library.

Lomatewama will discuss a number of topics relating to the development and growth of a child into an adult.
For the Hopi, as an individual goes through multiple life cycles or symbolic life cycles, the individual grows in a number of ways.

“Every culture has processes to initiate the individual from one phase to another. We use the image of corn to represent life transitions from infancy to childhood to adulthood. Corn is life for Hopi, part of an intact web of obligation and activity that has both physical and spiritual sustenance,” Lomatewama said.
