Bad Girls, Green Extreme dominate soccer tournament1 min read

Two Arizona Youth Soccer Organization girls teams from the Verde Valley won big at the one of the most well attended Arizona soccer tournaments.

The U12 Verde Valley Bad Girls and the U10 Verde Valley Green Extreme both won the gold medals in their respective divisions at the 23rd annual Cactus Classic Tournament in Gilbert, March 2 and 3, after dominating runs to the finals.

The U12 Verde Valley Bad Girls pose after winning first place in the U12 division at the tournament. The Bad Girls won their first three games, outscoring their opponents 13-1 before winning the championship game 3-1 over the CCV Stars. the team included, from left, Natasha Wisniewski, Mailey Moore, Alex Schaeffer, Kynlee Gillespie, Jacki King, Ava Scarbrough, Rylie Burke, Brina Church, Trinity Hardy, Taylor Ervin, Amari Sonn and Tyra Smith.The Verde Valley Bad Girls faced the Alliance from Region 688 in game one, a team it had never seen before. It won 2-0 with goals by Ava Scarbrough of Sedona and Tyra Smith of Camp Verde. In their second game, the girls beat the Bandits from Region 225, 6-1. Scarbrough had three goals and Smith, Jacki King, of Sedona, and Rylie Burke, of Cottonwood, each scored a goal. In their girls’ third game they faced the Prescott Pride Black from Region 172.
