Runners, jumpers and throwers had to face strong gusts of wind and dropping temperatures throughout the evening at the Sedona Friendship Invitational on Wednesday, March 20, at Sedona Red Rock High School. The Scorpions, however, competed extremely well, particularly in the field and long distance events.
Ten teams competed in the state qualifying meet: five Division III teams including Camp Verde, Hopi, Mingus Union, Payson and Sedona; four Division IV teams including Northwest Christian, St. Johns, Valley [Sanders] and Greyhills; and one Division II team, Notre Dame Preparatory Academy.
Girls
Senior Mykala Seresun dominated in her events. She placed first in the girls 1,600-meter run with a time of 5 minutes, 43.55 seconds and in the 3,200 with a state-qualifying time of 12:10.48.
