The West Sedona School baseball team is still young, but the experience gained last season should help it this season.
Last season the team went 3-7, but that team was populated with mostly fifth- and sixth-graders. This season, those players are showing greater potential after a season of sharpening the basic skills of the sport.
The Wildcats lost the first two games of their season to middle school baseball powerhouse Big Park and to Clarkdale.
Head Coach Pedro Ortega Sr. said his team is looking good so far, but has a lot of improvement that still needs to be done, specifically in pitching. As any fan of the game knows — good pitching is the key to a good team.
