Young Scorpions end season with loss1 min read

The Camp Verde Cowboys took revenge for their loss two weeks ago to the young Sedona Red Rock Scorpions, handing the Scorpions a loss in its final game of the 2013 season.

After beating the Cowboys [7-10] for the first time in four years 9-5 on April 12 at home, the Scorpions [4-13] lost 10-5 on Wednesday, April 24, at Camp Verde. A fifth-inning burst by the Scorpions, however, did cause some excitement at the end.

The Scorpions ended their season with a 10-5 loss to the Cowboys.The Scorpions’ batters were putting the ball in play on almost every pitch in the first couple of innings, but the Cowboys quick defense tallied up the outs.

Sedona Red Rock High School pitcher, sophomore Scott MokerThe Cowboys scored five runs in the first four innings, two off of a double, one from a single and two more due to Scorpions errors. A double play by the Cowboys led to two more runs, making the score 7-0 going into the fifth inning.

But the Scorpions bats suddenly came alive as Corbin Pulido, Joshua Hafner and Alexis Levya each got base hits to load the bases. Derrick Johnson then knocked in Pulido and Tucker Davis knocked in Hafner. Levya then ran home on an overthrown ball. Zeke Saxman batted in Johnson and Carlos Rodriguez singled in Davis, making it a two-run game.
