Big Park track and field team members molded themselves into one of the toughest middle school teams this year, and many of the athletes set personal bests and placed well against fierce competition at the Middle School Meet of Champions Track and Field meet, Friday, May 3, at Prescott High School, hosted by Heritage Middle School.
Big Park, West Sedona, Camp Verde, Cottonwood, Pine-Strawberry, Clarkdale-Jerome, Prescott Mile High, Granite Mountain, Glassford Hills, and Heritage middle schools all sent their top three track and field athletes in each event to compete for titles in middle school track and field for the region.
Although Big Park did not place as a team — Granite Mountain Middle School won first place — 16 Big Park athletes competed and did well.
Sophia Perry won the high jump competition and Taylor Ryan placed sixth in the event.
Hannah Ringel placed first in the shot put and fifth in the discus. Sydney Mulder also placed fifth in the shot put.
