Sedona Red Rock High School Track and Field came home with four individual state champions, three school records and second-place team finish for girls and fourth-place for the boys at the 2013 Boys and Girls Track and Field Division III State Championships on Saturday, May 11, at Mesa Community College.
“My [athletes] did excellent, it was an excellent day for Sedona,” SRRHS Track and Field Head Coach Harry Schneider said.
Girls
“The Verde Valley has the No. 1 and 2 place teams in the state for girls. That’s super,” Schneider said. “If we didn’t win it, we wanted Mingus Union to win it. They definitely earned it.”
Distance favorite Mykala Seresun won the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11 minutes, 27.35 seconds. She also placed second in the 1,600 in 5:10.04, setting the new school record in the event. Freshman Megan Goettl of Mingus Union won the 1,600. Seresun also placed eighth in the 800 with time of 2:25.52 and was a part of the girls 4×800-meter relay team that took third and set a new school record with a time of 9:56.55.
